The collectivization of women in our villages into co-operatives and SHGs has been something that happens quite rarely. In Darewala, we discovered that most of the women are skilled in stitching. In the programmes conducted so far, we have tried to collectivize these women into making saleable products that can be sold and the revenue so earned act as an income to them thereby inculcating a sense of financial independence. Raw skill is something indigenous to Darewala women; so far, much of our efforts have been in the field of conducting financial literacy sessions to make them understand how SHGs work in terms of pooling of savings and loans and basic banking procedures.

Carried out with an aim to inculcate financial independence in the women, the work done under this focus area entails establishing a mechanism by which the aim can be achieved and sustained even without any intervention by the organisation.
